August 21 Potwin will be holding their annual Watermelon Festival. I would like to get a lot of us together and ride in the parade to show our support. I hear it is a real blast. After the parade their is a poker run which will take you south through Leon, Atlanta, Rock, Douglass and Augusta (via Thunder Road of course). Should be a fun time even if we don't do the poker run and just check out the festival.
Please lets all sign up early and get figured out how many we can count on.
I will try and find out what time we would need to be there to get in the parade.
The time is not set in stone as of yet.

Hey there everyone, Was
Hey there everyone, Was thinking maybe after the festival we might all go for a ride. Depending on this damn weather and heat and how long we end up there. Maybe head out for an hour or two and see where we end up.
Matt
If I know approx how many
If I know approx how many bikes we'll have I can get some specifics as to where they'll want us lined up. Check-in is at 9am, parade begins at 10am. With those signed up on here and the original bunch plus a few new ones we may have up to 20 bikes. We'll likely be right behind the band up front. Chu, I'll take care of the pre-registration as well if that's OK by you.
Other info: Best way to get to the lineup area is take the west entrance to Potwin off K196 just east of the bridge. I believe that is Marshall Ave. which is the parade route. I will already be out there so if you'd like I can have the group checked in early. If you have any watermelon apparel like a doo-rag, hat, bandana, etc. please wear it. This is definitely a doo-dah, small-town kind of festival and the crowd will love that. I'm having a watermelon doo-rag custom made just for this.
I'll try to find out if there's somewhere everybody can park the bikes together after the parade for those who want to check out the festival. Might be able to put them in the street in front of my buddy's house which is on the street where the parade ends--Sturgess. Yes, we're going all the way to Sturgess. That is also where I and the original parade bike crew will be hanging out after the Poker Run.
They don't have carnival rides but there will be food and merchandise vendors, arts and crafts, games and inflatables for kids and a nice shady park in the middle of everything. For more info go to www.potwinwatermelonfestival.com. Any questions just gimme a shout. I'll be out at the Potwin Breakfast Ride, too.
